Pillar 12

Expand Your Consciousness

The brain processes 11 million bits of information per second and we're consciously aware of 40-50 of them. The other 10,999,950 bits of information are filtered by the unconscious before they ever reach our awareness. - Manfred Zimmerman (1989).

This pillar is about what happens when we expand consciousness enough to tap into the individual and collective unconscious.

Some of what I write about here is experiential: what happened and my investigation into how and why. My journey started with a handful of paranormal experiences and life-altering altered states experiences that called the reality I'd known into question, with experiences such as ego dissolution, accessing infinity and nothingness, etc.

Some of what I write draws on experiences of yogis, monks, mystics, shamans, philosophers, psychologists, neuroscientists, ancient Mystery School initiates, and serious scholars and practitioners of esotericism.

As a philosophy major, I've been circling these questions intellectually for years, but I understood quickly on this journey, intellectual understanding doesn't get you there, as the conscious mind cannot process this information. We need to engage the superpower of our unconscious mind on this journey, which is an embodied, experiential approach.

I share what I've found when I went down the rabbit hole.
